Three days of technical flats fishing just wrapped up down in Xcalak, Mexico, at the 2026 Mayan Permit Tournament, and we’re stoked to report that Howler Ambassador Jesse Colten and the Xflats crew came out on top! It was a nail-biter all the way to the finish with plenty of hard-earned Permit along the way.

The annual tournament brings anglers together to chase one of fly fishing’s most elusive prizes while honoring legendary Xcalak guide Don Victor and giving back to the coastal community that makes this fishery so special. Congrats to Jesse and the whole Xflats crew on bringing home the win!
