These are a super comfortable pants that are not overly heavy and do not require any break in period. As others have mentioned, these are not double duck heavy duty canvas work pants, which is why I like them so much. While I'm happy to wear my old Carhartts when cutting wood, I love the HB Trade pants for working around the house, garden, or just casual wear. They do run a touch large based on my experience. For reference, I wear a 32/32 in almost all brands including HB, but I had to size down to 31/32 in these. I also like the straight cut leg that is not overly wide or tapered.

I’ll start by saying these are NOT a replacement for your Carhartt double-knee pants. These are a hair thicker than normal generic khakis but absolutely nothing like true rigid duck canvas. They are much more comfortable for general around-the-house projects and a 6 o’clock Banquet sessions.

I’d definitely size down on these. For reference, I wear mainly Khul pants and Ariat jeans and I’m a 32 waist in both. I ordered a 31 in these trade pants and they fit like a 33. They’re also a more “slim” fitting pant along the leg… not necessarily tapered, but since they have the gusseted crotch, the straight-cut appears more form fitting. Definitely not skinny by any stretch though. There the perfect combination of form and function.

The crotch gusset is a fantastic touch and really give you plenty of room for the fellas.

For $130, these are a very mediocre value if you’re planning on actually using these in the field. Carhartt double-knees run under $80 and are made in the USA. These are sadly, Chinese produced.
